Services For INHS staff

Library User Education

We offer user education for INHS staff and other INHS Library patrons upon request. Individual and small group sessions are encouraged, please contact us (library@inhs.uiuc.edu, 333-6892) to arrange a session for yourself or your unit. Instruction is also available from the UIUC Library, see the University Library Schedule of Events for topics, dates, and times.

Reference Service

Reference service is available whenever the INHS Library is open. For assistance, call 333-6892, email us, or visit our new location for in-person assistance.

Automated Searches

Automated table of contents and topical searches can be set up in most online databases so that you receive citations via e-mail on a weekly basis. For assistance setting up automated searches, contact Beth Wohlgemuth (wohlgemu@inhs.uiuc.edu, 244-4907).

New Books

INHS New Book Display
New books are put on display at the INHS Library every 4-6 weeks. A Survey-wide e-mail message is sent out each time the new books are changed. Patrons can reserve new books by writing their name on the blue streamers in displayed books.

View items added to the INHS Library Colletion within the past 60 days.

New Titles @ The University Library allows you to view new materials by UIUC Library location, subject, time added, or type of material.

New Journal issues

New journal issues are put on display every day in the reference area in room 196 Natural Resources Building. After a week, the issues are shelved with the bound journals. See the INHS Library's Daily Journals blog for lists of issues on display each day.

Reserves

Materials can be put on reserve for classes and discussion groups. Contact us (library@inhs.uiuc.edu, 333-6892) to place items on reserve..

Computing at INHS Library

The INHS Library has 3 public terminals with internet access, and access to UIUC licensed resources. Chemical Abstracts and ChemDraw are available on these terminals. Software includes Internet Explorer, Firefox, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and accessibility programs including ZoomText and Narrator. All are welcome to use the public terminals, no logon required.

Printing from the library terminals to the INHS Library public printer is possible with your NetID and password. If you do not have a NetID, you must send the print job to the Undergraduate Library and pick it up and pay (cash only) for it there.

Scanning
We have one Mac workstation with a scanner (Epson Perfection Photo 1200) and printer. This workstation features Adobe Photoshop and PageMaker. All are welcome to use this workstation.

Mobile Computing
Currently, no mobile internet access (wireless or ethernet) is available to the general public, except via the public terminals in the INHS Library. Ethernet connections are available for INHS Staff computers configured for the INHS network; INHS Staff should see staff page for details.
