    The firm InfoMedia, publisher of the city guide Ves Kyiv, has compiled and sponsored this site of business information. Along with a directory of services there are price lists. The businesses listed here are limited to Kyiv.

  • UKRBIZ
    URL:  http://www.ukrbiz.net/
    This site claims that it is "the most extensive online database of business information in Ukraine." There are searchable databases of articles on all areas in business. These are searchable in English and will return Ukrainian text of an abstract of an article with a complete reference. The stock market is tracked at this site and there is access to the Ukrainian legal database. It is a very rich site for anyone seeking business information and draws on material from Price Waterhouse and Arthur Anderson (both in Ukrainian) as well as many Ukrainian business analysts. The site is operated by KP Publications, a private firm and they do not list any information about when the site was established. There is an email contact on the page titled "About Us" for further information.

    This is a list of links to Ukrainian sites in all areas of culture: art, cinema, cuisine, dance, art education, festival, language, literature, music and religion.  The links are not annotated but do present the user with a handy overview of the major sites on the arts in Ukraine. The page is available in English, Russian or Ukrainian.  It is maintained and produced by BRAMA, one of the search engines for Ukrainian materials.

    This site has links to educational institutions at all levels, educational press, information on conferences and seminars, virtually everything related to education. The site is in English and Ukrainian. The entries supply full contact information, including web addresses when available.

  • Ministerstvo Osvity i Nauky

    This is a site with legal and general information on the structure of education in Ukraine. Laws pertaining to education in Ukraine are available at the site as are statistical data. There is also information on conferences and seminars of interest to educational professionals.  There is a list of links to web sites for all institutions at this site.

    An excellent source for general information on the school system of the Ukraine, this site has a variety of interesting features including lists of web servers in Ukraine, search engines, lists of schools in the country and links to their websites when available.

    Genealogy

  • Researching Ukrainian Roots

    This page contains a variety of links to sources on researching genealogy in the region. Among the numerous resources are the addresses of the Ukrainian archives, information on obtaining documents from Ukraine, methods for pinpointing locations in Ukraine, a directory of Ukrainian diaspora, and a link to the business guide of the 19th century, Vsia Rossiia.  The page is in English or available in Russian, however, many of the links are only available in Ukrainian.  The site is a part of East Europe GenWeb and has been in existence since September of 1999.

    This site is different from the one listed above, but is also sponsored by WorldGenWeb.  The page is entirely in English and has a wealth of resources.  These include various general articles on genealogical methods, tips on doing research in Ukraine, a finding aid for locating towns, a list of diocese archive addreses and links to related sites.  The site is clearly organized and easy to use.  There is access to information on specific regions in the Ukraine from this site as well. This is also a good site for locating maps of the region.

    This site contains information on Ukrainian heraldry by region and family.  The site is available in English and Ukrainian.  The site on state heraldry includes the flag and a summary of its history and the national anthem.  There are also links to articles on the subject.

    Contains numerous links to legal pages, as well as the Ukrainian constitution in Ukrainian and English.

  • Zakonodavstvo ukraini

    This database of Ukrainian laws provides access to all laws via several avenues.  It can be browsed by the legislative body responsible for the law or it can be searched using a combination of search features such as keyword, legislative act number, date, etc.  The search is performed on a database of laws spanning 1989-2000 and returns the full text of the law.  The database must be searched in Ukrainian.

    A list of annotated links to Ukrainian literary sources in all genres and formats.  This address accesses a page specific to Ukraine which is part of a broader resource devoted to literature on the Internet in general.  The site is maintained by a private individual.

    This privately compiled site lists a number of links to major language resources including dictionaries and grammars. The site also includes information on adding cyrillic fonts for Ukrainian to your computer.  The site is in English and in Ukrainian.

    The library site is rich in resources.  The library catalog, including publications from 1994 on is available as is a separate catalog of the library's holdings from 1980-1996.  There is also an index of periodical articles.  Numerous links will assist any scholar interested in the Ukraine in finding other sites with electronic journals, newspapers, search engines and other resources.  There is also an extensive list of links to other Ukrainian libraries.

    Maps

  • Ukrainian Map Server

    This site has both maps and links to sites with additional resources.  The server is under construction, but at this examination (11/01/2000) has a very detailed road map, an excellent country map, a detailed map of Kyiv and Cherkassy.  There are plans to expand the contents to include more city and village maps.  There are also extensive listings of links to other maps of Ukraine on the web.  The site is maintained by InfoUkes in Canada and has been in existence since 1997.

    This page is generated by the search engine Brama. At the bottom of the media page is a list of Ukrainian and English language news sources. The sources are listed by language and area of interest.The list of other "Digital Newstands" providing access to a listing of electronic newspapers and journals for Ukraine was largely a list of non-functional links on the day this site was tested. There are also links to Radio Broadcast online and Ukrainian Diasporan Organization Newsletters.

    For links to current news from the Ukraine this is surely one of the most comprehensive sites. Under the heading "Ukrainska Presa" there are links to all the information services in the Ukraine as well as to all online newspapers arranged by city of publication. The site has been running since 1998 and is operated by Derzhavne Informatsine Agenstvo Ukraini.

    Political Parties

    A tremendous resource for anyone looking for information on and links to web resources on Ukrainian political parties.  The site contains lists of links to each party, political organizations, government sites, political figures and ideological sites.  There are also links to international government sites. The site is run by the Ukrainian information agency GEON.   There is a link on this site to Russian political information as well.  However, it has not been updated since 1996.

    A wide range of political information and a variety of links to political sites are available at the site.  The site is an independent publication on all aspects of politics of society.  It includes press releases and, although still under construction, will contain information on and links to the sites of political parties in Ukraine.  The site was only brought out this year.

    This site lists a number of the search engines and subject directories available for Ukraine.  For each, a brief description is provided stating the general nature of the resource.  The descriptions are very general with only general features listed.  The list does divide the sources into thematic catalogs, search systems, search devices for people and companies.

    Women's Issues

  • World Federation of Ukrainian Women's Organizations

    While primarily a list of contact addresses for Ukrainian Women's Organizations worldwide, this site does have links to broader based sites on women's issues in Ukraine.  The Federation was founded in 1948 in the United States.  The site is in English and in Ukrainian.  Along with the links and addresses there is information on conferences, publications and a variety of other topics of interest to women of the region.
